Call for Scholarship Abstracts
The Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional organization that provides training, information, and networking opportunities to 5,000 environmental professionals in 65 countries. The Association’s goals are to strengthen the environmental profession, expand scientific and technological responses to environmental concerns, and assist professionals in critical environmental decision making to benefit society.
The Georgia Chapter of A&WMA is pleased to provide a scholarship opportunity for both undergraduate & graduate students in the University System of Georgia. Specifically, the Georgia Chapter will award two undergraduate/graduate student scholarships of $1,000 during our December Brown Bag Event, the specific date to be determined. We will award the scholarship to undergraduate and graduate students conducting research on topics related to air quality, waste management, pollution prevention, environmental policy/compliance/law, sustainability, or a related topic. The scholarship recipient will also be awarded a complimentary one-year student level membership to the national A&WMA.
Interested undergraduate and graduate students must submit a brief abstract describing their research no later than Friday, November 8, 2024. The recipients will be recognized during our December Brown Bag Event and will have an opportunity to make a brief presentation describing their research. The scholarship will be awarded ahead of the brown bag in coordination with the GA AWMA Treasurer and recipients.
Abstracts should be e-mailed to gachapterawma@gmail.com. They should be no more than 300 words and should include at a minimum: i) the purpose/objectives of the research; ii) research methods; and iii) benefits of the research. If you have any questions, please contact us at gachapterawma@gmail.com.
